Our History
Single Glass Shop to Regional Company
In 1982, Larry Linderer founded the Salisbury Glass Company using a startup of $30,000 in home equity. The company began with one location with an initial team of five employees. A year later his son Doug joined, adding a family dynamic to the business. Soon after that, Jim Hansen joined the team and the company began to lay the framework for what was to become Go-Glass Corporation.
The three of them soon realized that the Ocean Pines/Ocean City, MD community could benefit from a location in the immediate area (1985), soon followed by the Accomac, VA store (1988).
In 1992, Doug bought the company from his father. The auto, home and business product mix continued, but he enlarged a passionate view of safety, certification and quality service — GoGlass was “born.” In addition, the company upped its game in the builder services segment. The early 2000’s enabled the company to build on existing industry relationships with the purchase of Bennett’s Glass in Dover and Lewes in 2005, and Seger Glass in Easton in 2008. With those acquisitions, the GoGlass daily service footprint became the entire Delmarva Peninsula.
On December 31, 2015, The Joy Companies, Inc- a fourth generation, veteran owned business based in Washington, D.C.- acquired the company. For more about Joy, go to www.bfjoy.com.
2022 is the 40th anniversary of GoGlass being the number one glass company on Delmarva.
